SUWANEE, Ga., May 21, 2010 - Mitsubishi Electric Cooling and Heating Solutions (Mitsubishi Electric) has made significant updates to its commercial R2-Series outdoor units, offering end users increased heating capacities and energy efficiency and the most advanced VRF technology available. The R2-Series will exceed proposed ASHRAE 90.1 efficiency ratings for 2010 and sizes 6 - 20 ton meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR® Light Commercial Requirements.

"Our R2-Series can cool or heat up to 50 zones and takes advantage of Mitsubishi Electric's INVERTER compressor technology and simultaneous cooling and heating, making this system ideal for a variety of applications," says Meredith Emmerich, director of application support, Mitsubishi Electric.

The R2-Series is available in 208/230 volt, 3-phase or 460 volt, 3-phase units and has an outdoor temperature range of -4 degrees Fahrenheit to 60 degrees Fahrenheit when heating and 23 degrees Fahrenheit to 115 degrees Fahrenheit when cooling, which is an increase from the previous models offer larger system design capabilities to the series.

The R2-Series has a capacity ranging from 6 - 24 tons; the 22- and 24- ton capacities are an increase from previous offerings. The R2-Series is available in three module sizes, 6-ton (36 ¼ inches), 8- ton (48 1/16 inches) and 10- and 12- ton (69 inches) and features a heating output that is up to 31 percent higher than previous models.

The R2-Series system can be used with the CITY MULTI® Y-Series heat pump in the same building. Both versions can be tied together using the G-50A/GB50A controllers and monitored through the CITY MULTI Controls Network (CMCN).

The CMCN consists of remote controllers, centralized controllers, Building Management System (BMS) interfaces and integrated software. The CMCN provides advanced, user-friendly control for each zone of a building with options for individual or centralized temperature control.
