Mitsubishi Electric CITY MULTI® Dedicated Outdoor Air System Named AHR Expo Innovation Awards Product of the YearThursday, February 03, 2011
SUWANEE, Ga., February 2, 2011 - Mitsubishi Electric Cooling and Heating Solutions (Mitsubishi Electric) announced today that the CITY MULTI® VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) has won the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Award for Product of the Year. This honor was awarded on February 1, 2011, the second day of the 2011 AHR Expo.
The Mitsubishi Electric DOAS was originally named the first place winner in the ventilation category and was later chosen as the best product among all 10 individual category winners. The DOAS was chosen from over 170 entries which were reviewed by a panel of judges consisting of ASHRAE members. The DOAS excelled in the criteria areas of innovation, application, value to the user and market impact.
The Mitsubishi Electric DOAS is a system designed to supply outdoor ventilation air to a building independent of the HVAC air distribution or conditioning system.
"We are thrilled to have received this prestigious award. The DOAS is unique because of its energy efficiency, in that it can use the heat recovery feature to reheat the air without using additional resources," says Joe Bush, CITY MULTI application specialist, Mitsubishi
Electric Cooling and Heating Solutions. "No other split-type dedicated outdoor air system offers the installation flexibility and performance of the CITY MULTI DOAS, and it is exciting that the judges have recognized that."
The DOAS pre-conditions outside air for introduction into downstream HVAC units, lessening the load on HVAC systems. Because the systems have to work less to condition the air to a certain temperature when used in conjunction with the DOAS, end-users can save on utility costs. The DOAS connects to a Mitsubishi Electric VRF outdoor unit with INVERTER-driven technology to provide energy-efficient outside air by utilizing waste heat from cooling cycles to provide reheat capability without needing an additional or supplemental energy source.
Available for use in new construction or retrofit commercial applications, the DOAS accepts 100 percent outside air at temperatures ranging from minus four degrees Fahrenheit WB up to 109 degrees Fahrenheit WB, preconditioning up to 1,200 CFM of air for introduction into downstream HVAC units. With line lengths of up to 541 feet one way, the DOAS application range is unprecedented..
