SUWANEE, Ga. - January 21, 2009 - Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division is pleased to congratulate Paul Doppel, director of factory liaison and government affairs, on being honored by the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) at its annual meeting, Nov. 16-18, Carlsbad, CA., with the Richard C. Schulze Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented annually by AHRI and is given to those who are recognized for their unique and individual contributions to the HVACR industry. Outgoing chairman C. David Myers presented the awards.
Paul Doppel was recognized for his outstanding leadership during his three years serving as chairman of the AHRI Ductless Equipment Engineering Committee. During his tenure, he presided over the development of proposed ARI Standard 1230P, Performance Rating of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Multi-Split Air-Conditioning and Heat Pump Equipment. Doppel has been a longtime contributor to AHRI product section work and was integral in the development of the new Single Package Vertical Units Subsection and the new Ductless Split-System Product Section. He also currently serves as a member of the AHRI Standards Policy Committee and Cooling Standards Subcommittee.

Paul began his career with Mitsubishi in 2002 as a brand manager, before being promoted to his current position in 2007. In addition to working with AHRI and five Mitsubishi factories, Doppel also works with the Department of Energy (DOE), the Consortium for Energy Efficiency, American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), utility companies, state governments and green building groups to enhance VRF technology education and its applications. Prior to joining Mitsubishi, Doppel worked for 10 years with Amana Heating & Air Conditioning, Fayetteville, TN., and retired from the United States Army Reserves after 30 years of service. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, West Point, NY.
