DIDO & AI Boards Include 3rd Party Control Features

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

SUWANEE, Ga. - December 16, 2008 - Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division offers two control boards designed to work with third-party systems, as part of the CITY MULTI® Controls Network (CMCN). The digital-input, digital-output (DIDO) and analog input (AI) boards can monitor and control several functions at once for optimum building management.

"What makes both the DIDO and AI boards unique is that they allow CMCN to control third-party equipment," says Brent Johnson, senior controls engineer, Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division. "With the AI board, users can control the temperature and the humidity in any space, allowing for constant monitoring and trending of temperature-sensitive spaces like server or control rooms."

The DIDO board has two digital inputs and outputs and can be used in conjunction with the GB-50, or the soon-to-be-released GB-24 and AG-150 Centralized Controllers. Through the GB-50/GB-24/AG-150 Web browser, and TG-2000, the DIDO board can control exhaust and supply fans, schedule ventilation air units and parking structure lights to turn on and off at specific times, providing facilty managers and other building staff members constant control of many of a building's key functions.

The analog input (AI) board provides users with two analog inputs, works in conjunction with the GB-50 or GB-24 and AG-150 Centralized Controllers and requires a field-supplied sensor. The sensor will allow the AI board to monitor and trend temperature and humidity levels from a field-supplied temperature or humidity sensor. Setpoints can be designated so an alarm will activate should a specific zone's temperature or humidity level rise or fall outside of a desired range, allowing for constant monitoring of any desiginated space.

Both boards are controlled by Mitsubishi Electric's TG-2000 integrated system which can be accessed from a single networked PC. This software provides the ultimate in building management by assigning illustrative icons of CITY MULTI indoor units to a building's floor. By linking either board to the software via the M-NET communication bus users have control not only of the entire CITY MULTI system but of many additional third-party air units as well.

Mitsubishi Electric HVAC's CITY MULTI system offers energy-saving simultaneous cooling and heating two-pipe systems that allow each individual space to have its own personalized, zoned comfort system. All components of the CITY MULTI Variable Refrigerant Flow Zoning (VRFZ) system, including the outdoor units, Branch Circuit (BC) Controllers and indoor units, are integrated through the CMCN for precise temperature control in every zone.

The CMCN, standard with each system, consists of remote controllers, centralized controllers, Building Management System (BMS) interfaces and integrated software that provide advanced, user-friendly control for all zones in a building.
