Annual Distributor Conference Convenes In Hawaii

SUWANEE, Ga., March 24, 2010 - With a significant number of distributors, manufacturer's representatives and employees attending, Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA Cooling and Heating Solutions (Mitsubishi Electric) celebrated an exceptional year at its annual Distributor Conference at the Fairmont Orchid in Kohala Coast, Hawaii, from January 26-29, 2010.

The exchange between Mitsubishi Electric and its distributors produced innovative ideas on how to better leverage existing opportunities for split-ductless or ducted, zoned comfort control and VRF systems within the U.S. market.

"The theme of this year's conference was 'Forward United.' All attendees were encouraged to focus our efforts for a positive future selling Mitsubishi Electric products," says William Rau, senior vice president and general manager, Mitsubishi Electric. "The conference offered informative sessions designed to reinforce everyone's commitment to the alliance. We shared our vision of developing the necessary tools and skills to take advantage of the growing split-ductless and VRF markets so that together we can continue to be successful."

Over the three days, distributors actively contributed to discussions during breakout sessions facilitated by Diamond Advisors (accredited Mitsubishi Electric distributors) and staff. These sessions focused on topics such as residential, light commercial and applied products, managing outside sales and establishing group objectives to accomplish sales growth.

Attendees were also treated to motivational guest speaker Tony Jeary. His presentation, "Clarity, Focus and Execution," focused on three techniques to achieve business goals: keeping a clear vision to maintain organizational energy; maintaining focus to produce a culture of decisiveness; and clear execution to maximize effectiveness, results and growth.

The conference also served as a venue for Mitsubishi Electric to honor distributors and manufacturer's representatives whose performance exceeded expectations in 2009. The Distributor of the Year Award recognizes the organization that has performed above and beyond all others in the area of sales, market development and service levels with Mitsubishi Electric's products. The 2009 Distributor of the Year was awarded to GENSCO, Tacoma, Wash., and the International Distributor of the Year award went to MPG & Asociados, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Quota Buster and Superior Sales awards were given to distributors who sold above and beyond their established quotas for the past year. The Excellence in Alliance awards were given to distributors who are committed and have exceeded expectations regarding the Diamond Alliance program. Also awarded at the conference was the 2009 Manufacturer's Representative of the Year award which went to Pacific Systems Group, Torrance, Calif., acknowledging the company's overall growth in sales territory and commitment to the Diamond Alliance program.

The Donna Applebee award, a tribute to the late wife of Mitsubishi Electric product manager Chuck Applebee, will be given each year to the person who emulates Donna's qualities of hospitality and encouragement. The 2009 winner was Betsy Jenkins, wife of Ron Jenkins of The Joyce Agency, Springfield, Va.
